I apologize for not posting in a while, but it has been hectic moving in and out of apartments, trying to read the mind of a seemingly interested young man, grades, and of course, finances. But here are some pictures from the photo shoot (also coordinate with the fashion show) by designer Lauralee Strewart:
Lauralee’s inspiration for her collection was Enchanted. And whimsical it was. I wore two of these designs and in each one I felt like I could be in a fairytale, all the while wearing something that I could and would wear in the real world. The pants for example: LOVE, and would wear them everyday if I was given the chance. One of my favorite pieces was what the models called the “queen” look. The long train outfit. This outfit is consisted of four separate pieces: the crop, sweetheart top (made of the same fabric as the detachable skirt), a rose pink sequined jacket with a lace up front, golden-tan tweed pants, and the wonderful open shirt. It buttons in the front and flows in the back. The model wearing this during the fashion show explained to me how she felt so…stunning while walking down the run way. The power of the skirt would flow behind her and all the sudden, for a brief moment, there was no make believe in this fairytale. Lauralee, you did wonderful, and I so enjoyed wearing your clothes. If there is any extra fabric, I will pay good money for a pair of pants (not kidding people, these pants (as well as the rest of the collection) are amazing!). I hope, and know that this young and talented designer will achieve her goals, her clothing was not only beautiful, but well made, and with such creativity! The more pictures I get, I’ll post!
Oh, here is another one of Lauralee’s designs for the fashion show, it was not part of her collection, but the jacket (gold and coral tweed) is too beautiful not to post (there was also a navy dress with gold trimming, but I don’t have a picture of it).
Hey y’all, so I know it has been awhile, I’m waiting to post Baylor fashion pics till I get them all in, but I was watching Game of Thrones and I realized how much people focus on the surface of looks. Now, as a fashion major, I am very in tune with looks, but I don’t meant acne, or scars, I mean bone structure. Now in GOT, I noticed that the young princess (of whoever, can’t ever get the names right) is always focused on her face of dragon scales (or whatever they are) and the thing is, she is a sweet, cute girl, just because she has a few scars doesn’t mean that she isn’t beautiful! It is about bone structure!
I remember I had a boyfriend who would always complain about his acne, but I saw what he couldn’t see: a beautiful young man with amazing bone structure, and I was right! He went on Accutine (not what I recommend) and now everyone sees what I always saw! Zits, scars, and wrinkles are (maybe not easy) to hide, but how you are shaped, how you look, is forever. And honestly, if you find that one person who thinks you are more beautiful than any VS model, who cares?! That is another think I have learned during my freshman year at college (BTW, had my last final today, officially not a college freshman anymore!!).
In my opinion, if there is something you wish to improve on yourself, then do it! What is stopping you! Put on make up, or go to the gym! (I know it sounds harsh, but I believe that nay change you want to make is in your power), so do it. I’m not particularly happy with my freshman 15 body, so the gym is my second home; I’m trying to make myself happy with how I look; so do the same! Alright, well it is almost 3 in the morning, don’t ask why I am awake, but I will go to sleep. I will post more in the mooring. Have a wonderful night/morning!!!!!!!
Watch out fashion world, there are new rising stars emerging at Baylor. It won’t be long before many of these ladies will be some of the best known names out there. And here is one right now:
In honor of the Baylor upcoming fashion show, I thought I’d show some designs of Baylor Junior design student: Denay Franks. Denay recently competed in the recently called “Career Day” competition, and won first place with these two looks. This also qualified her to be eligible to interview with the Paris American Academy. She was also recognized as a top finalist in the formal wedding apparel. Now as for my own comments, as a student at Baylor, I have seen these two garments, and trust me when I say that they are beautifully made. When trying them on for the fitting, they not only looked wonderful, but felt so too.
Career day Look
Colorful tweed, with yellow wool incorporated within the dress and also a wool belt. All with a matching coat.
The flowers are a gold metallic, and the fringe skirt is so fun!
The coat on the Career Day look has so many hidden details. The button holes are actually triangles, and each stitch in the coat is angular.
All the pieces are extremely well made, and so beautiful. I am so excited to see more from Denay Franks during this fashion show as well as next years, and during all of her own fashion shows in the future. This creative young lady will go far… look at her sketches! How could she not?!
